The Resuscitation of “Marcus Welby” Practices- Concierge Medicine

“I work hard to keep my patients looking good and feeling great... In sickness and health I do my utmost to give my patients a better day!” Everyone wants a physician with that attitude and personal dedication. This is what Dr. Marcy Zwelling’s patients experience year round from her; a multiple board certified physician in Los Alamitos, California.

Dr. Zwelling is a seasoned advocate for quality patient care. She has been interviewed by numerous media outlets regarding the health of our nation. See her latest TV interview on NBC 4 here.

In 2004, Dr. Marcy Zwelling adopted the Concierge Medicine model in order to provide a higher level of access and attention to a smaller number of patients. Formerly, Marcy saw 4,000 patients. Now, her patients number in the hundreds. Marcy, a trained economist, explains why changing her practice was extremely difficult, and her perspective on money in medicine.

Dr. Zwelling is DPMA Tele-Conference co-speaker "Opt Out of Medicare Without Leaving Your Patients Behind." Join us on Tuesday, September 18, 8pm-9pm EST. REGISTER HERE.

Kathy Hansen, MD : Family Practice Physician, TX

July 28, 2012

KathyHansenKathy Hansen, MD on freedom in medicine, authenticity in practice, and courage to go on live on the nationally syndicated Fox News Show-“Huckabee” in July 2012. Watch the show here.

1. Freedom in medicine is?
Freedom in medicine is not “free.” Freedom in medicine means allowing the patient and the doctor to dictate healthcare decisions without third party interference. It is not without limits—it is allowing us to use our best expertise, our patient’s desires, and common sense to come up with the most cost-effective treatment plans. This includes lifestyle changes and personal responsibility and collaboration between the patient and doctor. It also includes NOT doing things, based on patient choice.

DPMA in the News!

August 1st, 2012

Written by Loren Heal

Physicians reacted with shock and anger to the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the President Obama’s health care law, according to poll data and the leaders of activist groups, which are continuing to fight the law in court and via political action.

“This not just something that started today, and it’s not something that just started with passage” of Obama’s law, said Serkes. “There have been developments in medicine that have made it very, very difficult and have put some seriously different pressures on doctors. But this bill has certainly brought things to a head.”
